Recruit once. Research many times.

One cohort. Every therapy area.

Most studies start from zero: new sites, new approvals, new patients. AccessALL is uMed's umbrella cohort-consented, EHR-linked participants who can be invited into multiple studies across conditions, under a single HRA-approved master protocol. Sponsors and researchers launch faster, reach broader populations and follow outcomes over time, without adding burden to providers.
AccessALL within the ACCESS infrastructure
A reusable research community, built into routine care
AccessALL sits within uMed's ACCESS Research Platform. Through EHR integration with GP practices, eligible patients are identified during routine care and invited to join remotely by SMS or email. Members consent once to be re-contacted, then choose which studies to take part in.

With consent, routine clinical records are linked to patient-reported outcomes and, where a study needs it, home-collected samples, biomarker or genetic data. Every study draws on the same verified, engaged population - so each new one starts with people already in place.

An umbrella cohort for studies that don't fit one disease
AccessCMD, AccessPD and AccessILD are built around a single condition. AccessALL is built around the patient. It brings together people across conditions, ages and backgrounds, and hosts disease-specific and cross-condition sub-studies under one master protocol.

For partners, that means new studies can be set up as sub-studies rather than standalone programmes. Dedicated specialist nurse teams support participant engagement and data completeness, without adding work for providers. AccessALL supports prevention and early-detection research, natural history, observational and interventional studies, and long-term follow-up.
Capabilites
What partners can do with AccessALL
  • Launch studies as sub-studies - set up under the existing master protocol instead of starting a new programme
  • Reach beyond specialist centres - recruit through primary care, including older, rural and seldom-heard groups
  • Find patients before diagnosis - support prevention, screening and early-detection research in at-risk populations
  • Stratify using live clinical data - select participants on EHR history, then enrich with PROs, samples and genetics
  • Follow outcomes over time - generate longitudinal real-world evidence with repeat re-engagement
  • Accelerate trial recruitment - pre-screen and refer consented participants into observational and interventional studies

Setting a new standard for privacy & safeguarding

AccessALL is run and maintained by Cohort Science, a clinical research organisation. It operates under an HRA-approved master protocol, with Section 251 support from the Confidentiality Advisory Group (ref 26/CAG/0037).

Participants consent at every step, can decline any study and can withdraw at any time. The national data opt-out is applied, and patient and public involvement - including research-naïve and seldom-heard groups - shapes how the cohort is run.
Fully ISO27001 and ISO9001 certified, Cyber Essentials Plus and NHS Digital Data & Security Toolkit certified.
HIPAA-compliant platform for cross-border trials.
